Abraham Lincoln, a Republican and the 16th president of the United States of America. Born  February 12, 1809 and assassinated April 15, 1865. A self-educated, country lawyer who led our country through the deepest of American tragedies.  On April 11 1865, he gave a speech advocating voting rights for blacks. An incensed John Wilkes Booth planned the assassination and just days later at the Ford theatre fired a gun into the back of Lincoln's head.
